Did Piccolo grow up through the history?

When Piccolo Junior was introduced in the 23rd Budokai he didn't seem so tall:

Look at Piccolo compared to the competitors. He looks pretty small:

He seems way more mature too. So he was like a teenager in the 23rd Budokai and was becoming an adult through the years?

He does look way taller (around as tall as Kami) during his match with Goku for some reason, but yeah, on a whole I think he started being depicted at a much taller height around his battle with Nappa. It may or may not have been an intentional change, as he looks mostly the same as his 23rd self against Raditz, and the same could be said for Goku who looks suddenly more mature against Nappa and Vegeta despite not aging.

Yeah I have that feeling too. He seems to be depicted as taller in his final match against Goku.

But Piccolo during Mecha Freeza's arrival is depicted as more mature than himself in the 23rd tournament, right?

Yeah. And the announcer either shrank considerably in his middle age, or Goku grew taller as well:

Lol good find. Goku's height was given as 1,75 m in a guidebook or something like this, right? So:

1,75 m >> announcer >> Piccolo Junior (23rd Budokai)

So Piccolo Junior was like 1,50 m ? lol.

I'd honestly prefer to think the announcer shrank with age, since Piccolo being below like 160cm sounds ridiculous when Krillin's height is officially 153cm or something (even if he's drawn even shorter). Ofc, Toriyama likely didn't have the heights down that far back.

True... but I guess his special power is shrinking, like Lunch's sneezing 1

Either that or Piccolo was embarrassed about being so short and altered his size to get taller as the tournament progressed 1 1

Well at least with Vegeta he looks taller in later arcs, but he's consistently taller than Krillin and shorter than other adults. Piccolo seems to be consciously drawn to be rather short in his first appearance before going on to be way taller than most humans.

Though it's obviously partly due to style change

It's almost like AT was a bit reluctant in portraying Piccolo like an adult in the 23rd Budokai.

Piccolo Junior was shown like a baby in his very first appearance.
