The short answer is no.
The explanation? Freeza's return in FnF was just a hollow rehash of the arc he starred in that just made him more pathetic from not learning from his mistake and the same can be said of his ToP self who was just trolling other fighters and touting how great he was, with what was the most impacting villain in the franchise now becoming a joke. Trunks had nothing to do in his debut arc other than offer exposition and offering him more spotlight could've been an improvement, but turning him into a generic Shonen protagonist in the anime and just more of the same in the manga wasn't the improvement he needed. Broly was an improvement as a whole with his motivations at least being somewhat consistent this time, though still not an interesting character when his LSSJ form is even more of a nothing character than his Non-Canon self. As for returning characters that got more spotlight such as Roshi or Tenshithands, they got temporary relevance through contrived means, of which even damages Roshi's character arc from the original series.
