DB characters aren't physically weak, Cell Saga SSJ Goku already has star obliterating blows and in the Buu Saga they have at least several super nova level punches

Because you need the AP behind your punches to damage them as Namek Frieza stated he can tank planetary explosion with some power lose and Namek SSJ Goku's did the same, same goes for SPC who became solar-sytem level.
