Do you think the barrier consumes so much power that it can manage to decrease the power of the user?

Android 17 is clearly the exception as his power never drop. But what about Freeza, Cell or Vegetto?

100% Freeza had a poor stamina, yet he is able to make one and his power doesn't decrease until the end of the fight.

Cell's power is never stated to have decrease post regeneration and nobody said that his power went down even more after using the barrier.

Could Vegetto have used so much power that made Goku and Vegeta defuse? That is never stated or implied, but it's something that I've seen is thought. Pre-recton Vegetto got separated because of the air inside Buu and post-retcon Vegetto just separated after 1 hour.

What do you think?

It was never stated that using too much energy would cause them to defuse.

In Super it is by Shin saying they used so much power on the Final Kamehameha. But is a thing that not always apply and it's basically headcanon.

What about the others (Freeza and Cell)? When it comes to the barrier?

I think it's implied that it drained Cell. He's seen huffing and puffing after using it, and the fact that he said Goku made him "resort" to using it makes it seem like he didn't want to use it in the first place. It looks like any other Ki ability that would require Ki to use.

Guidebooks say Cell could use the barrier technique effectively because he had the infinite energy generator from the other androids. Cell was still reduced after using it but it could just be from the fight overall. Maybe he doesn't get the overall benefit from the infinite energy generator and it's only for the barrier.

If I had to use my headcanon I'd say Cell would have muddied up the infinite energy generator with his assimilation, kind of like when you fuse an immortal with a mortal it undoes the immortality.

Because he understimated Goku's attack potency and didn't thought it were going to be that much dangerous as it actually were. But the one who is inciting Goku to eat a senzu bean after the incident is Cell and remarks how much strength he has lost, even if he got weaker it was so minuscle that no character told us about it.
