The mummy's performance against Yamcha was enough that Roshi thought the old Goku would be defeated, and Yamcha dodged a bunch of kicks and punches from him. Even after he decided to finish him it took 3 hits to take Yamcha down.

I don't think he landed any kicks. He did trip him off the arena though.

Oh I see, that part where the Mummy picked Yamcha up by the collar and Yamcha kicked him was anime filler. Yamcha did dodge some hits so he could have gotten stronger, the three hits part though seemed like he was being tooled tho.

@Animelover5487 : With the emphasis they put on the one hit punch Goku pulled on the mummy, I think Toriyama was probably not envisioning the same strength gap between Yamcha and Mummykun at the time. Yamcha was tooled, but it looked like it legitimately took more than one hit for him to be KO'd. Toriyama later does a similar thing where Tenshinhan has slight trouble with Yamcha, but we can easily infer Ten was holding back massively because he has way better feats in the next 2 fights. Mummy just seems to be the kind of enemy Goku couldn't beat as his 21st self and that's that imo.
