Does anyone here thinks that the Cell Arc is better than Freeza Arc?

Cell is my favourite and Freeza is one of my least favourites. I enjoy the designs of characters and locations from Cell arc, and the idea of the "perfect villain" time travel and Goku not winning is all good in my book.

The Ginyu Force are goofy and uninteresting, Guru's power unlock was lazy, Freeza looks weak in every form except his second, and generally I don't enjoy most of the character designs.

I think the fact that Cell is made from Earth's computer with the cells of every strong fighters is a a great story but the problem is that it shouldn't be from Earth, it should from out of space similar to Baby IMO.

Why does that matter? The whole reason he exists is because Gero had beef with Goku years prior. That's more compelling than just a random android comes to earth.

Yeah but with the Earth's technology can't produce that kind of monster that is capable of surpassing the likes of Freeza IMO.

The Cell arc is trash with a few good fights here and there even though it was the marking of no return for AT's manga.

Convoluted plot, full of inconsistencies/plot holes, training boosts and SSJ and its variations are handed around like candy from training in some asspull room with 10x gravity they could've literally used multiple times earlier in the story, villain just needs to be squashed to bring peace and no one important dies until the end depriving it of any point besides fight fight fight fight fight as the editorial fucks with the author again and again.

Those issues are worsened in the next arc and its continuations, but that should just tell you AT and other people working on his series just kept dropping the ball. :idk

It's clearly stupid since Earth technology was purported as being far inferior to that of the Saiyans and Freeza's army and the last time Earthlings built robots they had their shit kicked in by t1en and kid g4lu. It's clearly terrible writing for them to produce cyborgs that strong in like a decade maybe and that's not even the biggest reason the arc sucks :punk

Even disregarding that, the author retcons shit 24/7 and pulls bullshit like no one having the bright idea to just cure Goku's heart virus with the Dragon Balls or everyone getting massive ass gains in an asspull room with 10x gravity which apparently existed since Goku was a child. The arc falls apart compared to most arcs before it in writing, concept, use of plot devices and *shock* fails to even set up the villain as threatening as Piccolo, Vegeta and Freeza were in their respective arcs considering Cell is surpassed constantly and he has to resort to absorption at the last minute to win instead of transforming at will, or having handed top tiers crushing defeats or having major achievements under his own power without plot to aid him like previous antagonists had. It's all a giant mess.

Doesn't stop me from rereading the arc, and squeezing out some enjoyment, but on a whole it's shit alongside Boo.

CC put it best:

I'm also surprised to see HnK didn't make it on your list, considering even though the 2nd part became worse and worse, the 1st part was one of Jump's better written and impressive titles. I didn't find it's 2nd part to be as crippling to the franchise's quality as DB's Cell and Boo Arcs at least, though that's just me.

When he disagrees with me on a preference, the Cell and Boo arcs are the first to come up as the bane of DB's writing quality. Doesn't make him objectively right, it doesn't make me objectively right, but when you have a good thing going in spite of some questionable statements and actions and then 100x the questionability for the last 2 arcs in your manga people are gonna find them underwhelming.

There's worse things than Cell. YYH's last arc is miles worse than Cell and even Boo. Shonen like Naruto fell off more than those examples. But it's still overrated crap for a significant percentage of the western audience to call Cell the GOAT arc in spite of clearly lazy writing, imo :idk

Cell arc was my favorite as a teenager, but I am way too old now to pretend that 60 episodes of near pure nothing is artistic genius if it were not for the Cell Games payoff. The Frieza saga, even the fake Namek filler is interesting from beginning to end.

Earths tech in DB is pretty damn advanced. They have capsule tech and Dr. Brief was able to reverse engineer Gokus spacepod into a massive spaceship that has a gravity amplifier. Thats pretty darn impressive feats of Tech.

Dr Gero was as smart or ever smarter than Bulma and Dr. Brief. He has spent his life making Androids and after Goku made it his obsession. He spend decades figuring out how to make the perfect machine. Its really not that unreasonable.

I enjoyed the Freeza and Cell arcs alot. Goku defeating Freeza was awesome. It was the highlight of his character. A low born Saiyan who defeats the Galatic tyrant. Then with Cell passing down the tradition to his son. Gohan was now the worlds protector and Gokus time had passed just like Roshi's had in DB. The anime also took the beam struggle to an amazing place with everyone helping. I would say they both have positives and negatives.

I enjoyed the Boo Arc as it was nice to see Gohan grown up and Goten and Trunks. However, it was chaotic and convulted. Very poor thought was put into some of the dialogue. It was the place where ATs consistency and writing started to take a dive.

Androids arc as a whole I like more than Freeza arc, so yes. It was more interesting and I like that pretty much everyone had a moment to shine, anime filler included.

Androids arc is my favorite arc, but Freeza is my most favorite character of the entire franchise. So Freeza arc is a very close 2nd to me.
