When Goku SSJ3 was fighting Kid Buu, Vegeta told Goku not to hold back, since the power of SSJ3 was enough to kill Kid Buu in Episode 281.

Does that mean that either Goku SSJ3 or Vegeta, if he unlocked SSJ3, could defeat Kid Buu?

Am I only talking about the anime filler, where Goku SSJ2 (vs. Kid Buu) is much stronger than Vegeta SSJ2 (vs. Kid Buu)?

It’s a generalization. Like in the Androids Saga when people are surprised the androids could beat a Super Saiyan, even though there are different levels of Super Saiyans.
