If those fillers bother you so much, then just read the manga.

I personally really liked the Dragon Ball filler (even if it's inconsistent like Goku vs Mutaito) and showing Goku training for the 22nd and 23rd Budokai makes it all WAY more interesting imo. Like Goku's training with Popo, I found it amazing how Goku seemed like a noob, not mastering the "seeing without the eyes", which makes himself from the 23rd Budokai look like a God, kind of "wow, this is the Goku who supposedly mastered what Popo had to teach him and he didn't could do before, how impressive may he look like now". Goku's 'adult' first appearence was also cool as hell in the anime, with all that "who is this guy?" and the theme song which fits just fine with a series that valorizes martial arts... I really did love it and the fillers gave something else for DB that I personally felt the manga lacked.
You and me both, bro. I think DragonBall filler deserves to be called Anime-Original. You know, not as degrading a term as filler. DragonBall Z filler deserves to be called filler, though. That shit was only done, so Toei could milk the series for as long as they could with the most boring filler ever.

Goku's first appearance as a grown-up was kewl. I also for some reason remember the episode Goku was fishing-in. I don't know why, but the ending of the episode really sticks-out in my brain.

Reading manga sucks. What's entertaining about that? I'd rather read some sex stories in the internet than reading something that I can just watch its anime version. What I'm talking about filler arc like kinda the fake-Namek stuffs, Gohan's journey in 6 months, pre CG fillers etc.
I love your antielitist approach! :rape

No need for a Kai-ified version. The anime-original stuff in the series is good and a lot of them don't feel like filler at-all. Like Goku and Yajirobe's quest for the Super-God-Water much kewler than what supposedly happened in the manga, which was just handing the water over to him.

I agree. :gay :gay2

Yeah I also did ike the episde in which Goku was fishing. I remember he interpreted Popo's training as having to meet some kind of pretty strong opponent... he met a guy who he one shotted (a guy who was described by the people like "faster than lightning", which fits just well with what training Goku was doing)... and when he was fishing with that old man, who gave him the same teaching as Popo as to what he should do to fish, being calm as the clouds", I really thought the old man was the worthwhile opponent he would fight with. It turns out the man Popo said Goku should learn with wasn't a fighter like Goku told and was that old man fishing, but still with the potential to teach Goku something worth to use in a fight in a non-fight related thing --> fishing, going back to the Kung Fu's old teachings, that what you learn not always lies in a fight, but also in daily exercises, like... fishing. Great episode, it made Goku showing his prowess later in the tournament a helluva more meaningful, and not just the, imo, boring presentation of the manga, in which is shown only a panel of Goku meditating and already skipping to the Budokai.

Amen!

Absolutely agree. I also remember the fishing episode for really good music placement. I think the ending they used Goku's theme-song. Also when Goku finally tries to calm-down and catch a fish that also good music, I don't know, for some-reason whenever I think of the ending of the episode I always think like it's Kid Goku's last appearance. Just felt like that, even-though I know there was like an episode or two afterward. Good to see there are people that can actually appreciate good anime-original stuff, instead of just calling filler on it straight-away.

You are also right about the martial-arts aspect. I feel like DragonBall Super tries really hard to sound intelligent and talk about all these things like being calm and stuff, but they just fail at it unlike DragonBall.

Wow, I also feel that way when looking at the Goku who was fishing. If that weren't the last episode before 'teen' Goku's appearence, then it was at least pretty close. When I rewatched it I could agree with this feeling of seeing kid Goku for the last time, even more with the soundtrack playing out (like you said). Iirc this is the same one which was played after Goku gave Piccolo Junior a Senzu and said he would regret losing a great rival.

Agreed. DBS tries to be a mix of DB and DBZ and yet sucks ass, for the most part, with hardly memorable scenes imo and just feels like "ok, whatever...".

I think anime-wise, DB is >> DBZ, honestly.

I can't remember when exactly that music played where Goku calmed-down and actually was about to catch a fish, but I think I definitely do remember hearing that at some point in the Piccolo-Daimao Saga before. Might have been when Piccolo-Daimao was giving his final speech and gave birth to Piccolo Jr. (if that wasn't it that was another piece of great music. Kind-of eerie vibe, but kewl).

And yeah about that being Kid Goku's last appearance, that really did feel like IT. Another thing that kind-of made me think that was, that I think IIRC the episode ended with a kind-of drawn frame. I don't know how else to call it, but you know ended like in a frame, like that of a painting of sorts. Like end of the story kind-of thing.

True about DragonBall Super. DB-Super tries way too hard to sound intelligent, but most of the time it doesn't even make sense within the context of the series and also seems weird because they discarded almost all of that once power-levels were introduced anyway (Beginning of DragonBall Z), so to see it now just doesn't make sense. Just seems like they try extra-hard to seem intelligent, by having all those "intellectual" quotes about spirit or leaking Ki or whatever. Doesn't seem natural.

About DragonBall Z, yeah I might think so too, especially if you count the filler. Great to watch the first time maybe since you don't know what will happen, especially as a child but when you're older and know what's going to happen then it's just seems like a chore to watch the "5 minutes" of Goku vs Freeza. You just want it to move e fack-on at times. And something about DragonBall Z's music. I'm not sure why but the composer made really gr9 music for DragonBall, but DragonBall Z's music (not opening) seems so dated compared to DragonBall's. The music-placement also seemed all-over the place for DragonBall Z, like at times I was like "WTF?!?!?! Did they accidentally put the wrong music for that scene on there. Doesn't fit at all." Not sure maybe just me.

You were right, Fantstisc! The theme song which was played when Goku was fishing was indeed the one played when Goku killed Piccolo Daimao and this latter was about to give birth to Piccolo Junior:

Put at 2:22

Then it plays kid Goku's theme, like you also said. Pretty nice.

The one I was thinking is this one, which plays right after Goku gives Piccolo Junior the Senzu and talks he he'd be lonely without a rival like him:

Man, listening to these theme songs again makes me realize how much I enjoyed when watching the DB anime. I also enjoy fillers after a pretty big saga... they are so calm in general that might be somewhat relaxing watching them. I also remember how I didn't skip a single filler when watching One Piece and also enjoyed them, like seeing how the characters were featureds by someone other than the author.

Here's a link for all the soundtracks played in DB, if you are interested:

That's also gr9 music. I think that also played right at the end of the episode when Goku drank the Super-God-Water and wasn't in pain anymore.

There's also gr9 music in the 23rd Tenkaichi-Budokai. Gr9 music played during Kuririn's and Piccolo Jr.'s fight. I also remember really liking the music that played in the episode recaps in the 23rd Tenkaichi-Budokai. I'm not sure how to describe that, but maybe a bit scary is the word. Made it seem like this tournament unlike the previous one really did have more at stake, since world piece was on the line. That doesn't play at the beginning of the Tournament, but like half-way through the Saga when the main fights happening. The music when Goku and Tenshinhan start their fight at the 23rd Tournament is also gr9. I think that music also started playing sometime around the Piccolo Saga (either-one).

That's very kewl. I remember seeing a vid. that had all the music of DragonBall on there. I think that was from the official sound-track CD. I could show that if you want to.

I also got the DragonBox a few days ago. :D :D :D

@Hure

Here's another great theme song from DB (it played in DBZ too, if I'm not mistaken):

I also did enjoy the 23rd Budokai when watching for the first time, mainly because I didn't know how it would end up. I was pretty excited when it was shown Piccolo would fight with Kuririn --> Until then I thought they had never fight. Goku vs Tenshinhan was kewl too, Tenshinhan seems kind of a beast in the anime imo.

That's kewl music, too. Really fit with the more light-hearted adventures in the show.

I liked the 23rd Tenkaichi-Budokai, but really got dragged-down by the final match. I kind-of liked the final-match, but for one was kind-of really long and second, the fight for some reason made everything that came-before that in the tournament seem pointless. Like they (Goku and Piccolo Jr.) treat everyone as if they were leagues above everyone, essentially like fodder but before Kuririn was complimented by Piccolo Jr. It's like all of that was forgotten by the finals.

Also I just went back to the training/fishing episode and meng, I forgot the really beautiful music that played when the Fisher-Meng talked to Goku. peaceful music, I guess you could that. Makes sense, since they were about calmness.

I remember I bought my laptop in the final match of the 23rd. I was really excited about it because I'd be watching it in my laptop (I used to see it in a old desktop before, which wasn't even mine). I really liked it at that time, although now that I reread it I can say it's not one of my favorites fights. Piccolo Junior also seemed kind dumb there, being again and again outsmarted by Goku.

Yeah. Just under-minded almost all of what happened before in the tournament.

OK guys, are there some error statements in the DB anime? Like in the Boo arc such as Pure Boo's power, SSjin2 Goku ~ Ultimate Gohan etc.,? I'm watching DB sub right now.
