Yo! Son Goku and his friends return.
Episode of Bardock.
Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans.

Of these three, which do you put at the top and why?

Yo! Is my prefered of the three. It feels the most like a Toriyama story, with a blend of comedy and action. It makes some retcons, like Tarble, but nothing to drastic.

Plan to Eradicate is next. It is full of Final Flash goodness and has the old villains coming back. It would be number one, but I hate the fact that, during the fight against Freeza, Cooler, Slug and Freeza, everyone fights except Vegeta. He just dissapears until the fight is over, despite showing battle damage lol.

EoB is last, though I still like it. It's too short and I hate the lazy designs of the little purple aliens. It is short and sweet, but just a bit too short. Also I don't think Bardock needed SSJ too. I do enjoy this one though.

They are not the best, but I consider them harmless filler. I thought they were okay appetizers until BoG came out.

But I can see why people would be put off by them.

Yo!... was the best imo. Just a nostalgic rush. A boring one, in my opinion, but not much overtly wrong besides that.

Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans was lame. I found the return of the old villains to be underwhelming. They just taunted the heroes and laughed way too much for their own good. Hatchiyack had an okay design, but was boring, as was his fight.

Episode of Bardock I really disliked. I'd've preferred a story with an original character becoming Super Saiyan 1000 years ago. The time travel thing was just weird, although I suppose that if they tried to explain it they'd have made it even worse. It was also by far the dullest compared to the others. That little purple alien kid was annoying as hell too. "BADAKK-SAN BADAKK-SAN BADAKK-SAN BADAKK-SAN."

So same order pretty much.

Yo! Son-Goku and his friends return! for me, too. I liked it, unlike the other OVAs, l0l.

Did anyone have the privilege of watching the original Plan to Eradicate? It was sooo bad, with 8 bit video game graphics filling in for some scenes. I have to admit, even though this one is lame like Kyo said, they did a really nice job cleaning it up.

Never seen it. You wouldn't happen to have a link to it, would you?

I watched it years ago. To anyone who hasn't seen it, you're not missing much. It's practically the same product but with far worse animation and the additional idiocy of monsters that look like generic enemies from Dragon Quest somehow being strong enough to not be one-shot material to MSSJ Goku.

As for the topic, I'd probably say the Tarble OVA, though saying it's the best out of the bottom of the barrel isn't saying much, plus the only reason I have to place it above the Hatchiyack one is mainly keeping Kikuchi's OST. Episode of Bardock was set for ruin from the first two minutes in with Freeza's Death Ball somehow having space-time abilities for plot, so it's no wonder that this comes in dead last amongst the OVAs (and all noteworthy DB Anime Material, for that matter).

Bump.

I just found a video of the original version, when I was surfing the Internet for something.

I don't know whether I can post it, but since it's on YouTube and not a streaming website, I think it's allowed. The animation on this one, I actually prefer, and it seems better than the new one (I mean this version in general is better), even-though I haven't seen it, and just saw some of it.
