One of Toriyama's first editors is famous for literally throwing a chapter of his in a shredder because it was dissatisfactory

They also have the power to fire unpopular manga artists on a whim, although Toriyama obviously never suffered that fate due to Dr. Slump and DB becoming waaay popular

Literally the only artist on Jump who can get away with missing loads of deadlines and turning in bunk chapters is Togashi because he signed a deal to let him do whatever he wants
