Super Saiyan is a 5x boost, Future Vegeta never acquired Super Saiyan, which allows for us to make him super strong in Base, but have Gohan surpass him easily as a Super Saiyan.

I don't know, the 5x multiplier just looks strange on Trunks. His Base form is >> Namek Base Goku, but as a Super Saiyan he's not even touching 50% Freeza's level. I don't see why his Base form would be so much stronger than the first Super Saiyan's if he was that pathetic. I think the 50x multiplier works better for Trunks.

Maybe until he became more proficient with the form. I don't think the boost needs to arbitrarily be 5x for everyone unless absolutely necessary.

I dare to say Future Vegeta should be a Super Saiyan, although a piss weak one. Both the special and the anime showing him as a SSJ is bigger evidence than whatever Vegeta says about how he compares to Base Goku.

Toyotarou's manga depicts Vegeta as a Base Saiyan. That should trump everything.

Vegeta can't be a Super Saiyan, because if he was, he'd simply be very powerful.

Vegeta literally declares himself as the #1 Saiyan right to Goku's face and claims that he will destroy him and not to let Super Saiyan go to his head.

It's quite possible Vegeta has caught up to Goku already, at least in Base. Remember, Goku has been off doing IT training, he hasn't been totally focused on gaining power like Vegeta has.

Unfortunately he does since Toriyama is approving his work and giving him a lot of guidance on what direction to take.
