Not really. He's basically the equivalent of the Z Senshi when Goku arrives in the Saiyan / Namek arc. He keeps getting stronger for no apparent reason yet is still completely irrelevant.

Which is the same thing Gohan did in GT. He’s even going Ultimate SSJ in the new movie… goes to show how out of ideas they are.
