I always took it at a literal five minutes. However, future scenes that show time passing slower contradict this


HOWEVER, the Super 17 fight supports this. (Chiefly a scene where they are fighting and it shows them zoomed out with the whole earth on the screen.)

To them, they were fighting for less than 5 minutes. For us, time around them probably slow down so we can see them fighting instead of seeing nothing.

and yet piccolo makes a big fuss over 30 minutes time limit of gotenks.
When vegeta stalls for for goku to power up to 100% only a few pictures later goku says that a minute has passed

I guess its not impossible. I just disagree with it. I does not really fit. I guess in the manga its more plausible.

Freeza did say he miscalculated iirc, though that was around just before Porunga appeared. His calculation wasn't that far off.

We don't know what Arcosians mean by minutes. Maybe, in their metric system, a minute
is a unit equivalent to a period way longer than one of our minutes.
