Goku VS Jiren and Goku VS Freeza?

After rewatching the fight on Youtube, I just noticed that both fights are very similar where both are even and only for Goku later to bithcslapped them at the end. What do you guys think?

But yeah, Goku VS Jiren was just an entirely watered down version of the Freeza fight, especially the pre-UI part with Kaioken x20 and a Genki-Dama.

Yeah, and in fact I thought the ToP was the ideal scenario for a fight of that style, where the difference in power is simply too big for a conventional 1 vs 1.
In Namek Freezer had to fight with a fraction of his strength to not make the fight an incoherent mess, so I saw the ToP as an oportunity to better portray this scenario.
Maybe making Jiren not so horrendously strong compared to the main protagonists as Freezer was back in Namek and taking advantage of the "all vs all" scenario for better strategies and better surprise attacks that could catch Jiren with the guard down.

In the anime that was only seen in the last chapter, I hope in the manga this is done much, much better.

I think Toei handled the fight by not dragging it like they did on Freeza arc as they kept Goku and Jiren apart.

Well, it not having too much filler is good, but it's a lost opportunity as I see it. I hope the manga fixes this as well (as of now it's fixing nearly all of the problmes I had with the saga so I have hope in Toyotaro-Toriyama).

To an extent, yeah. But Goku had a partner to help take Jiren out in the end, and it was technically a tie between them since Goku/Frieza were eliminated along with him.

Speaking of him, I still don't get why he didn't just request to change his username to Super Saiyan Masta Don instead of making an entirely new account under that name.

You sure? I remember the site not working correctly for a week or so during January, but he made the account in April. Six Trails was able to change his own name in April around a similar time.
