The more you play around with these numbers, the more you realize how big they need to be.

Gohan is literally delaying Goku's training. Goku has hit his peak, Goku doesn't plan on gaining much power on his own, he knows he needs to surpass the Super Saiyan state.

Vegeta surpassed the state in two months, it's doubtful he even made much progress with his own power despite training with Trunks.

This wasn't merely a tool to gain some power, they were desperately in need of a new transformation. The story doesn't indicate them gaining all that much power on their own and in the short time span, there probably should be no gains.

Everyone is tapped out heading into the Androids Saga, except for Gohan. But everyone, the humans, Piccolo, the Saiyans, they are all done. Everyone is essentially maxxed out.

Here's what I've discovered.

1. Grade 2 is likely a 2.5x boost and Grade 3 is likely a 3x boost.
2. Semi-Cell's power-up is bigger than expected. Super Vegeta is toying with him, but Cell expects to beat him.

Super Vegeta (Actual) > Semi Cell FP > Super Vegeta (Expected) > Semi Cell

I'd say Super Vegeta appears to hold a 1.33x advantage over initial Semi Cell.

3. To get Grade 3 Goku > Initial Semi Cell, you need a monster boost altogether. The 10x boost really does make sense.

4. Light Grenade gotta have some crappy amp. 1.5x is about all you can give it. There's just no way to make this thing work...

SSJ Goku 150
Piccolo 250
Grade 2 Goku 375
Light Grenade 375
Imperfect Cell 600
Semi-Cell 1,200
Grade 3 Goku 1,500

This is the best I've come up with. We are so screwed with this situation lol

Didn't Sixteen and Trunks state that Vegeta was already on par with Initial Semi Cell without his new transformation?

Indeed, but that power advancement came after the discovery of the transcendent state, which opened up a new world of potential for Vegeta.

Maybe Goku was factoring this in though. Like maybe he's not necessarily counting on a huge transformation boost, but having his potential reset along with a moderate transformation boost.

This is how I see it now. Goku looked at it long-term, where-as Vegeta was short-sighted. Vegeta was looking for a fast boost in power but with a ceiling, where-as Goku took the harder/longer but the better way. When Goku mastered SSJ it upped the ceiling of power by a ton, much more than he ever could have with SSJ Grade-II.

This part of the story is confusing. They go into the Rosat thinking "We're maxed out, we need new forms" but when the forms turn out to suck, tthey say "nah let's just train as usual".

It wasn't as usual though. They had to normalize the Super Saiyan form which took a tremendous amount of work.

Yeah, exactly. And the Grade forms didn’t suck at all lol.

The Grade forms since their inception produced better than Androids level of power immediately. That’s legit amazing.
