Has Captain Ginyu used the body swap before?

As the title says. Do you believe the body we see him in isn't his original one and that he has therefore used the technique beforehand?

Toyotaro and Weekly Jump confirmed that he did, and Jheese appeared to be familiar with the technique, so it would seem that he did. My guess is that it was a mutant type of body similar to his original, which is why he could control it right away unlike with Galus body.

Yeah, what I found strange was him being unfamiliar with the fact that he couldn't control the Target's body, but with it being a singularity with Goke specifically (maybe due to Goku being more in-tune spiritually with the Earthlings), it does make sense.

It really depends what source you go by. A guidebook for one of the SNES video games featured background information on all the Ginyu Tokusentai members and suggested the body we see is Ginyu's original and that he only Body Changed with others temporarily, whereas Toyotaro makes it clear his purple body wasn't his first. I'd say Toyotaro's explanation makes more sense (the kind of statement you can only make once in a millennia :troll2) since hopping from one body to the next without a care of returning seems more in line with Ginyu's characterisation when using it.

My personal headcanon is that Ginyu stems from a weak race with a natural ability to swap bodies, and ended up climbing the ranks within Freeza's empire by continuously switching bodies with stronger beings.

This was the start of some exceptionally lazy writing.

I guess he was from a powerful race and they just fucked around swapping bodies as kids, exploring their sexuality and doing suggestive poses. He never had the need to swap bodies, as he was strong as fuark, until he met Goku. Jeice was aware of the technique because the Ginyu Force entry ceremony involves allowing Ginyu to borrow your body to go through overnight tests of vitality.

I don't see any reason to go against the Daizenshuu in this instance.

Well I don’t think he’d know how to use it properly without having done it at least once, so yeah. We also have more than one official word saying he had as well.
