I'm talking about the unseen past that the Trunks who Cell killed went to.

I once read an arguably overly-though-out theory (I’m not h99999ing @Vertical) about how the Trunks that was defeated was present Trunks of that time-line.

What lines? Piccolo made an assumption, but with the dates on the machine & AT's panel it kind-of makes sense.
His idea of that timeline already having a future Trunks from another timeline that dies against 17 and 18 along with the other Z Fighters is entirely unsubstantiated and fabricated out of nothing. It's his headcanon, nothing more. If he owned up and called it headcanon and only presented it as a neat hypothesis I would not take issue. I take issue with him asserting it as fact.

Obviously the Trunks that Cell kills would have to be the Trunke born in that timeline regardless. But Vertical also suggested that the Trunks born in that timeline was using the time machine that belonged to a Trunks of a different timeline which is absurd.

It might not have been stated that they had all been defeated, but all the other facts stand to which he came to a reasonable conclusion.

The option that it makes most sense is they used the control to shut the androids. Had Trunks trained in the Rosat, he could've killed Cell and it was Vegeta the one to discover how to trascend SSj and had the androids stop misbehaving, they could have been detected by Cell and there'd be no point for Cell to say that in his timeline, the androids didn't exist.

Trunks seems to be the only one obstacle Cell had in his path and once he got killed, there was nobody else who could put resistance against. Sounds like that the other Z fighters didn't exist and died.

Cell also seems surprised by how Goku is still alive in the timeline he went to.
