If you can see their hands or not? If I can see their hands then it’s always kewl to see what they might do and even predict, but might lessen the surprise factor.

No, I think you have to know a certain amount. Like in a Yugi versus Kaiba duel I'd want to know what both of them are holding, though maybe not all the time. Definitely agree with Kenshi that the villain's hand should be hidden.

Villains most of the time (or at-least that’s how I think it is when I try to remember it) play mostly new never before seen cards anyway, so it’s not like you could immediately tell what they can do even if you see the cards themselves.
