How far above Boo is SSJ3 Gotenks?

I'm starting to reconsider my stance on this. While it is impossible to damage Boo, it's certainly not impossible to damage Gotenks. The interesting thing that I noticed was that even the cosmetic damage that Gotenks had received seemed to wear off, implying that he had taken no damage from any of Boo's attacks. And when he gets serious at the end of the fight, Boo cannot defend himself, and is going to be killed. Is something as large as a 1.3x gap reasonable here?

I've always had it as a 1.2x gap, for your reasoning more or less. Gotenks was kicking the shit out of Boo when serious.

I think anywhere from 1.15-1.2 works well considering small gaps and the like. 1.3 kinda irks me a tad since it's a tad big, but I suppose DBZ could've been a bit more conclusive on everything.

Piccolo stated they're about equal and Buu revealed he was just stalling, which could explain Gotenkses advantage. I'd place Gotenks a little stronger,
10% at most.

I've always been a 1.2x guy, but the fact that Gotenks took no real damage from any of Boo's (serious) hits makes me think it could be greater.

Boo was pretty pissed after Gotenks rained those Chain Missiles down on him.

I think a 1.2x difference sounds reasonable enough. Super Boo couldn't do anything to Gotenks when the latter was focused.

I honestly don't mind any gap as long as it makes sense. 0-30% makes sense to me.

That's why his blast didn't do that much damage, he still tried to keep them alive, until Gohan arrived, so maybe he over-did it a bit.

The point still stands though. Why would Boo hold back so much that Gotenks was about to kill him?

To see if he had power to offer perhaps? He supposedly knew about Gohan and needed a way to surpass him.

He realized about Gohan's existence when he was looking at the timer in Kami's palace.

I'd say Super Boo is actually stronger than Gotenks SSJ3. Super Boo was just buying time waiting Gohan, who would be his real opponent. Super Boo admitted he was surpassed only by Gohan, implying that Gotenks did not.

As much as you want to consider them equals, Buu is indeed getting his ass kicked. He's able to be somewhat competitive, but generally losing every exchange after offering resistance. He's not at a helpless level, so I wouldn't personally place is at a 1.2x gap. I don't even consider it that large of a gap where he is at a non competitive standing, he's at a level where he is just one upped more than outclassed imo.

In Dragonball, we see Goku able to overwhelm his opponent with superior skill with much smaller gaps than that. Super Buu doesn't technically have to be all that much weaker at all.

Hell, the gap between Freeza 2nd Form ( Powered Up ) vs Weighted Piccolo is already getting in that zone more or less and we know that gap is puny.

At that level, the one upmanship begins. This is probably the level we see Goku at over his opponents in majority of his major fights.

So, I think really small spacing can produce big results.

That didnt seem to be the case when dragonballz came around. We can only assume how "puny" that gap is. (piccolo vs frieza)

Small enough that only Vegeta can tell who's superior. The biggest I'd put that gap is 3-5% personally. Agreed on Dragonball highlighting skill.
