How is Son Goku so badly flanderised?

Super is really bad with written characterisation. However, I want to focus on Goku for this, discounting everyone else in particular. Why is Goku so flanderised in Super? His character is incredibly simple. Araki summed it up in Manga Theory and Practise, Son Goku cares deeply about his friends, he is kind, and he likes to fight, Araki even praised Son Goku for his simplicity.

So why is it so hard for the writers(Toyo and Toriyama included) to write him?

Son Goku Briefs

Toriyama didn't like the way Goku turned out in Z and decided regressing him back to BoDB levels of stupidity was the solution to his problem. It's as if he, and everyone else working with him, forgot Goku changed in DB part 1.
