So sad and emotional. He is still one of my fav.s from Ash's PokéMon of all-time. I felt so bad for him for the way Misty treated him. I wish Butterfree'd return.

He always leaves everyone, and in anime it's still technically not been a year, l0l.

But Caterpie was his first PokéMon. That was an emotional moment when he left him. Hopefully if the writers get a brain again, Butterfree can return.

He hasn't even gotten back Pidgeot or Primeape despite promising to come back for them, lol. The writers have the same amnesia he suffers from

I can't remember him saying that he'd come-back for them (because how many times he probably made the same promises to every PokéMon he left), but I do remember him leaving them.

It kind-of sucks now. Back-then in the original series, you had genuinely great and sad moments in the series, these days everything seems manufactured and its only purposes seems to be to promote the new gen. of PokéMon. I wish they'd bring the old PokéMons back.

The battles and animation quality have improved in the latest series but yeah it's still the same cheap merchandising tactic as ever. The writers do everything in the book to make sure Ash loses every league, lol. And after that he gets amnesia and resets back to episode 2.

I hate that, too. Like in every new series, he forgets everything he's learned in the past. I can't take it seriously. No consistency. It seemed he was a way better trainer back in the first series than he is now. I remember when they used to have clever strategies used in the series (and being surprised at how intelligent Ash was), now it's just my attack is stronger than yours.
