They're a huge crew. Each commander can probably give an admiral a good fight. Blackbeard did defeat Asce, but say Marco and Jozu versus Blackbeard. Oars Jr if he's still alive versus Sanjuan Wolf. Vista versus Shiliew. And then I dunno.

Did they have Aokiji already when they defeated the Whitebeard pirates?

I think the scale is just too great between being able to keep up with an Admiral and defeating a Yonko. I don't think two guys who can somewhat challenge an Admiral have the stopping power to overpower a Yonko's defenses. Kaido and Big Mom were absolute brutes who almost couldn't be physically damaged. Big Mom was defeated by Kid and Law thanks to their insane fruit abilities and based on how situational it was. These guys don't really have that going for them despite having very good abilities.

I mean he had all the level 6 escapees at that point. And he's incredibly powerful all by himself. It's not like it was just Blackbeard vs all the Whitebeard pirates.
