He was useful against Nappa and Vegeta, and only dismissed from the Raditz fight because Goku was afraid he’d die again. He and Gohan saved Vegeta’s life vs Recoome and never stopped helping against stronger forms of Freeza.

He’s strong enough to “help”, but we don’t know what kind of help exactly. If the plan is for them to 3v1, then I imagine he must be at least 200k to fight directly.

He doesn’t really help against Freeza, other than Kienzan. He can provide a distraction.
