How strong is Yamcha (BoZ)?

Personally I like having him a little stronger than Goku (Post Water of the Gods).

Tenshinhan (BoZ) does not appear to be multiple times Krillin (BoZ), the gap between Krillin (BoZ) over Yamcha (BoZ) is a minor gap. Tenshinhan (BoZ) must be right behind Mr. Popo.

Yamcha at least trained to learn how to fly and probably trained a little during those 5 years.

I don't think the gang got much stronger. I think they were mostly at their limits with solo training and only got marginally stronger since the 23TB. I'm pretty sure Piccolo only developed the Makkankosappo because he couldn't get much stronger himself.

I belive he's fairly close to [post Choshinsui] Goku, but still confirmedly weaker.

The gap between Yamcha and Kuririn suggests Yamcha didn't train at all after the 23rd TB due to focusing on both his relationship and baseball career or did so minimally, so still slightly weaker than post-Choshinsui Goku/Prime Piccolo Daimao.

When did he have time to train? Didn’t Bulma say he was too busy fuckin hoes?
She was angry at him for something, but never explicitly stated what it was. We can infer he was cheating based on reveals in the Cell Arc, though that does kind of come out of left field regardless of whether it was a recent thing or not.
What we do know is that his baseball career is canon as this was Toriyama's idea, so he probably focused on that more than anything else.

I also think that Yamcha did a mini training during those 5 years and in TB23 he was very close to the level of Piccolo Daimao and Goku (Post Choshinsui), simply not to have Yamcha as a complete forage for Tenshinhan.

Unless Tenshinhan had been too suppressed in training him against Krillin as shown in the anime. Do you think that is a possibility? If so, you could have without problems: Goku (Post Choshinsui)> = Piccolo Daimao> = Yamcha (BoZ)> = Krillin (TB23)> = Yamcha (BoZ).

What do you think?

Is there any reason to believe Yancha is weaker than post Chosinsui Goku aside from guidebooks?

Well, I'm not even using the Guidebook number for post Choshinsui Goku. In the 23rd Budokai we know that Kuririn and Yamcha were still likely noticeably weaker than post Choshinsui Goku since even the initial exchange before Ten used his real speed was still regarded as impressive to Kuririn and Yamcha, with Yamcha even questioning whether Tenshinhan can move even faster than that. If Yamcha did make puny gains as his distance from Kuririn seems even more pronounced at the beginning of Z, then I don't see Yamcha reaching [post Choshinsui] Goku yet. Edging closer, but still a step or two below.

Do you think Tenshnhan was too suppressed against Krillin in his training at Kamisama Palace? If so, I have no problem with having Yamcha a little step below Goku (Post Chosinsui) and Piccolo Daimao.

In the anime it was shown Tenshinhan vs Krillin

Yamcha vs Yajirobe + Chaoz.

The training between Tenshinhan vs Krillin doesn't really say much. Tenshinhan had similar training sessions against Krillin and Yamcha, at a time when Tenshinhan outgrown both of them.

I have Tenshinhan (BoZ) on Krillin (BoZ) with almost the same gap that they had in TB23.

I practically have:

Mr. Popo >= Tenshinhan (BoZ) >>> Tenshinhan (TB23) >> Krilin (BoZ) >>> Goku (Post Chosinsui) >= Piccolo Daimao >= Yamcha (BoZ) >= Krilin (TB23) >= Yamcha (TB23).

Yea it could be. I just don't think Yamcha being impressed by their initial fight has to mean that he's worlds below them.

Yamcha's max speed could still be close to initial Goku/Tenshinhan's level. He certainly wouldn't view his own top speed as slow, hence why he was impressed that they could go so much faster.

You'd have to assume that Yamcha made truly minuscule gains over the 5 year gap which is possible. Just seems odd that he wouldn't improve much at all.

"If that speed is slow" screams to me that such was considerably ahead his full capacities. I think he made slight to moderate gains... going from 160 to 177. They still had the threat of Piccolo Junior but idk, with Kuririn apparently building a larger distance between them makes me thing he improved noticeably less.

It could be due to the fact that Tenshinhan's raised speed was so much faster than the initial speed. Random numbers but imagine this:

Yamcha speed: 90
initial Ten: 100
Ten raised spped: 150

Yamcha's maximum was already outclassed by a good amount and was then completely dwarfed by the raised speed. It would be shocking that a level of speed above his wasn't even close to Ten/Goku's true level..

Yamcha said both are beyond belief tho, including Goku, and there was no indication Goku could raise his speed even more except Tenshinhan. So it seems he thinks the level of speed Goku was showing (= post Choshinsui Goku) already makes Goku beyond belief.

Tenshinhan hadn't shown his true speed when Yamcha made that comment, either.

Goku literally states that Tenshinhan was far faster than before before Yancha made that statement.

Oh sure, confused the order of the scenes.

But Kuririn seems to regard both as not normal. I think both Kuririn and Yamcha are a good chunk behind post Choshinsui Goku.
