How would a Goku/Gohan fusion work in terms of transformations?

Old Kaioshin says that Goku and Gohan would be able to transform after fusing with the Potara. So that's established. But how would Super Saiyan look on this fusion? Would it get the full boost despite all of Gohan's power being brought out to base? Or could it maybe be a nerfed boost since only Goku should be able to power up from Super Saiyan?

Boss Kaioshin made it sound like they will be able to transform into Super Saiyan like normal, so I don't see a reason to believe that Gohan's potential unlock would influence that. They will be fusing into a new being with a new potential, not one that already exceeds its own limits.

I personally nerf all fusion Super Saiyan multipliers to avoid unneeded bloating, but I don't think it's something you can back up factually.

So if Goku also had his power drawn beyond its limits like Gohan, would the resulting fusion also have its potential unlocked or have a new potential?

I'd still think it would have a new potential. While the fusion is a combination of two people, the fused body turns into a separate entity. It's really all speculation, but it's possible that if two beings who had exceeded their own potential fused, maybe the potential of the fused would account for that - but it's not something that's suggested in the manga.

I don't think it'd have a nerfed boost. I think it'd make use of Gohan's full unlocked potential AND on top of that they'd have the transformation stacking power on top of that thanks to Goku, similarly to Gohan in GT accessing his SSJ after some training, I guess. Some people like to think it has nerfed multipliers due to the necessity of keeping Vegetto at his best above Gokhan, whose base is established as > Bootenks, but I don't roll that way, so I think Gokhan has no real reason not to enjoy from the full SSJ boost.

For reasons already mentioned, the fusion would likely work akin to GT Gohan in it being able to use the SSJ transformations normally, not to mention it would be a completely new being and, thus, having a new potential that wouldn't directly carry over from Gohan's potential unleashed state. Rou-Dai Kaioshin makes it apparent they'd be able to use SSJ normally, so this overall makes the most sense.

Honestly, I get the feeling that Goku being able to still go SSJ somehow mitigates the effects of Gohan's unlocked potential for the resulting fusion. Perhaps that's why Gokan or whatever can still transform.
