How would you face early Dragonball Part 1

Not in later arcs, but the initial ones like Pilaf's, and specially Roshi's training to the 21st Budokai... it was light-hearted, kinda, many gags, and simple in the plot but at the same time captivating. I just liked the characters and wanted to see them faring off against another well worked and captivating character, like Yamcha. Goku vs Kuririn too, not to mention the ending with everyone distraught at final match was veeery well done to me. Some ppl don't really like Roshi's pervert nature and this has grown old with time and obsolete, I personally don't find it funny at all, like how I used to do, it's grown antiquated, but overall, how do you see the very early portion of the series, before RRA?

I really enjoyed the beginning of DragonBall because it established character charm and character dynamics across different characters while simultaneously outlining a clear objective for characters to follow. All of these characters came from different backgrounds and were opposed to each other but that one objective brought them closer and formed the very beginning of Z Senshi which is something very heartwarming to think about.

I also think it's so special because Toriyama was fresh with ideas so we were constantly introduced to new possibilities in an interwoven story compared to the same old, same old. It's why Ultra Instinct, especially in the anime, was so special. It's deeply connected to the narrative established at the beginning of Super while giving us something new to see from Goku.

I dig it, but I’m not sure if I would like it as much without the rest of the series. Like most people I grew up with Z, after all.
