How would you try making reason of characters talking through others minds? And reading them?

I see that the telepathy reasoning was never thought up by Toriyama, but if you were forced to come up with just some little reasoning as to how they could do it, what would it be? And what about reading minds?

For example, Goku talked in Kuririn's mind not to kill Vegeta, Piccolo called Gohan for help when Gero had him, Piccolo talking to the kids in the RoSaT when he was entering there with Boo... I think the first exposition to a kind of thing like this was Roshi, but in this case reading minds, reading Nam's mind to know his story? Goku couldn't read minds until Namek and he had to touch Kuririn's haha.

In relation to talking through telepathy, maybe it's a spiritual thing? You can project yourself, much the same way as releasing your chi, you can project your persona and voice through spiritual power? Ten could also talk in Chaozu's head in the 22nd Budokai when Chaozu was paralysing Goku now that I remember it... Maybe their trained enhanced spirits can present itself establishing a bond with the target?

Piccolo could read Kami's mind in the 23rd Budokai but that seemed more like because they were one before. Roshi needed really seriousness and did read Nam's... So maybe it's also some sort of feeling the way the person is feeling, a very enhanced way of putting yourself into the other's shoes as if you were one? Like if in a moment they connected their bodies, like the reason Piccolo could read Kami's?

Maybe Roshi, through training as a hermit for decades, and Piccolo, because of being partly god, could transcend spacetime with their minds.

I assumed it depended on a combo of ability and how close their relationship with the person is. Goku-Krillin, Piccolo-Gohan and Tenshinhan-Chazou all fit that. Roshi-Namu really doesn't though, unless Roshi is extra good at it so doesn't need a close bond, or Nam is extra easy to read due to being pure-hearted.

It's weird that Yamcha didn't do it when Gero was nearly killing him, even though he's close with Krillin, Goku and Tenshinhan and had spiritual training under Korin and Kami/Mr Popo. Plus he did all that training with Tien and Krillin, if that makes the spiritual bond closer. I suppose he could have been in too much shock.

If i think bout when they first showed it:

Goku: adult, flight, post-Korin, post-Kami, post-Kai, close bond, while making physical contact, 90k power level, read impure mind to pure, made an effort to read

Piccolo (I'll ignore Kami, since same being): adult, flight, no Korin, no Kami, post-Kai, split from someone who might have had as much ki knowledge as Kami, close bond, not making physical contact, 90k+ power level, sent from impure(?) to pure mind, didn't know Gohan's location since they were suppressing their ki

Tenshinhan: adult(?), flight, no Korin/Kami/Kai, knows kikoho, close bond, impure sent to impure recipient, low power level (but higher than post-Korin Goku and base Roshi), no Kai/Kami/Korin training, could fly, didn't have to concentrate hard or even have to look at him to read Crane's mind

Chazou: post-Kami, close bond

Roshi: old adult, can't fly, post-Korin, low 100s PL, read pure mind to impure, made an effort to read

Crane: old adult, unknown PL but probablu comlaravke to Roshi, close bond, impure to impure

They're all adults, all likely have 100+ PL. They can all manipulate ki. Otherwise not much in common across the board. Do they all have a level of ki manipulation beyond normal beams? Eg Chazou is post Kami/Piccolo is split from Kami, Goku is post-Kami/Kaioken/Spirit Bomb, Tenshinhan knew Kikoho, Roshi can make his body bigger. Crane's ki capabilities are the only unknown.

Apart from Yamcha vs Gero, are there other times a character should have used telepathy to send a message or to read a mind but didn't? Goku is gullible so trusted Vegeta at the end of their fight. Trunks could have been curious about Vegeta's mind in the rosat.
