I can't understand why

Some people do think Future Trunks has a power advantage against the androids of his timeline and lost ultimately due to their infinite stamina and team work. I mean, that's completely going against the flow of the narrative. Not only Trunks says he won't be able to escape even fighting against one of them, but when he is back to the future, #17 is perfectly fine in letting #18 to take care of him, who just shots a blast at the boy. Even a fight taking place there wasn't implied.

Because people like to ignore implications and cling to the fact that something isn't explicitly stated (like Future Trunks never explicitly stating the cyborgs are stronger than him, but just that he couldn't beat them). In my opinion, it's just grasping. The cyborgs are clearly meant to be way stronger than Freeza and any previous power. What kind of backwards progression would the next main villains being weaker than the last be?

Yeah, there's even people arguing the Z warriors weren't expecting the upcoming threat (the androids) to be stronger than Freeza and that the 1st ones to surpass Freeza introducced in the story were the present cyborgs. I mean, what kind of backwards logic do you have to pull to have a scenario like this? Arguing the androids #19 and #20 weren't meant to be above Freeza is still understandable, but now arguing that the Z warriors weren't expecting foes above Freeza when Trunks flat out stated they were too strong, to which Goku stated "for someone who easily defeated Freeza to consider them fearsome is really something" isn't surely going against what the story is passing to us and overcomplicating things for no need?

I sometimes don't have the will to debate Dragon Ball because of things like this... having a different opinion isn't the problem, but twisting what the story is quite clear trying to pass to us is annoying.

Trunks saying the gap between him and the Androids was huge should be enough to end that, but of course, people will say he's referring to their stamina only or something silly like that.

I've never really came across anyone who believed Pre-Future Trip Trunks > Androids in terms of power. I've seen people believe Future Gohan could've beaten them one on one, but not the former. Regardless I think it's clear (or it should be) that Trunks wasn't stronger than them. Gohan couldn't beat them, Trunks was beneath Goku when they met and he was sure Goku couldn't beat them as he was. Plus the whole thing with Present Androids > Future Androids (How much depends on your POV), I don't see where Trunks being stronger but losing due to numbers would come from.
