In Gintama there's a character who in one arc likened a few characters to music genres. Jazz, drunken humming, a children's anime song, rock and roll, classical music, heavy metal.
Eg:
What genres would you say Goku, Krillin, Gohan, Vegeta, Cell, Freeza, Bulma or other characters are? Interpreting it however you want.
I think Burta would be some trashy fast happy hardcore a la
or at least he wishes he was. He's probably some speed garage instead..."speed" in name only.
Piccolo something with lots of powerful, punctuated drums, because in DBZ he usually attacks with lots of force and overwhelming, momentary power (besides that one sneaky attack vs A17). Special beam cannon, the way he killed the saibamen, light grenade, every attack vs Gero. There's no extra noise or filler, he just gets to it. Idk what genre that would be. Something like the beginning of the Pride theme...hell, the whole heroic vibe of the Pride theme kinda suits him in the Freeza Saga, when he rocks up to save Gohan from 2nd form Freeza.
Initial SSJ Goku it's something dissonant and a little broken-sounding, maybe some breakcore like squarepusher or some dissonant rock like ling tosite sigure (they'd suit young Gohan too imo, since they have sometimes have quiet sections and then crazy parts). Or something angry that has a fun undertone to it, but idk what that could be.
Freeza, maybe something nonchalant, but also unpredictable? He's having fun and doesn't have to try so hard. Something jazz-adjacent. These songs are examples that seem applicable H Zettrio - Ichikoro
Kid Buu is probably something jazzy or math rocky...something with some swing, some mellow parts, fast prts, happy parts and harsh parts. I'm listening to this album "A N D" by tricot and it fits that, so that'll do.
Android Saga Vegeta is some super vindictive emo music, where the singer is secretly on the verge of tears. Plus it's a Comic Relief charity show, so he's wearing a clown nose, cuz he was a fucking clown here.
Namek Vegeta I'mma say classical music, with lots of dynamism. He alternates between quietly sneaking around and trying to avoid fights, to bringing forth all his power. And between being confident and unconfident.
Yamcha is some cringy hip hop that tries too hard to be cool.
