How strong do you think he'd have become?

Back in Z? Probably no stronger than Base Gotenks Post. Old Kaioshin’s ritual takes you beyond your limits, and SSJ3 was described as the upper limit of Saiyan power.

Probably a little stronger than his EoZ SS3 self since Goku didn't suggest he'd completely maxed himself out, but not by too much. I'd say that'd make him far stronger than SS2 Gotenks, but still significantly below the likes of Evil Boo.

I'd put him on par with SSj3 Gotenks.
That's a pretty small gap between Goku and Gohan's potential. Considering Gohan overtook him despite starting out with a lower base power and no SSJ at the start of the RoSaT, and Galu implies his potential is in another dimension altogether saying Gohan's been keeping up with everyone else since he was a baby, don't you think Gohan's potential should be greater than Galu's by more than just 1.3~1.5x?

To be fair we're comparing a Gohan who's only in his late teens to a Goku who's probably well into his prime. Gohan likely still has room to grow even after reaching his ultimate state, while a hypothetical Ultimate Goku would likely be his absolute peak in life.

Gero and 19 commented they didn't foresee great growth for Galu, considering his age. Obv they were wrong but it shows age isn't a helping factor

Gero went from weaker than early part 1 Goku to stronger than Freeza at the age of 200 :donovan

Goku in the Piccolo Daimao arc got his potential unlocked by the Super God Water, and then proceeded to get way stronger. I don't see why the same couldn't apply for Gohan in the Boo arc, who was only 1-2 years older than that Goku.

Gohan's body is already mature, which the SEG supports by labeling his 176cm height as his "adult" height. Galu had yet to rapidly grow as he did in the interim between the Daimao and 23rd Budokai arcs.

Tbh my main reason for having Goku's potential on that level is from scaling off of his EoZ self. His base seemed to be around Kid Boo's level, so I estimated his ultimate state would reach around Gotenks' level. As long as Gohan's potential is still higher, I don't see it being a big problem.

It's too small a difference considering what the series implies. Even at 4 years old with no training Gohan displayed power 3x greater than Galu's just from being enraged, it makes little sense for Gohan's potential to be only moderately greater.

It's made very apparent that the Kaioshin ritual is far different from other potential unlocks though, the latter of which are indirectly referenced with Goku calling out potential unlocks beyond one's natural limit as a common ability. Without the power creep of later material such as Super and GT, it seemed this was one reference to the limits of characters Toriyama wanted to keep as a ceiling for them.

Chapter: 479 (DBZ 285), P10.1-5
Context: Elder Kaioshin explains his ‘ability’
Elder Kaioshin: “With my psychic powers, I can take the hidden power which anyone has, no matter how amazing a master they may be, and draw it wa~~ay, wa~~ay out above their limits. Ehehehehe…Have you ever heard of an ability like that?”
Kaioshin and Kibito: “Oooh!”
Goku: “Wh-what?...Ain’t that the kind of ability you hear about fairly often?”
Elder Kaioshin: “Wh-what are you talking about…?! Above their limits! Above! There de~~efinitely isn’t anyone else that incredible!

It's differentiated from other potential unlocks in that it brings people above their limits, not just to them. There's nothing inherently contradictory with Gohan being able to get stronger after the ritual, even if that may have been Toriyama's intent at the time.
