It could've been all filler scenes but Piccolo (and Krillin for that matter) have multi-forms. One of the filler scenes show Piccolo fighting another Piccolo, so going in solo works perfectly well for him.

Yes, that's 88/100 gap. When it comes to Goku, he thought of him as a low-class warrior, Trunks's his son and he showed being proudly of him being capable of sustaining SSJ form

Him not showing respect for his power's another thing, when he greatly improved and closed the gap to one extent, he talk proudly presenting him to Cell.

Yes, I tried working w/that, but it doesn't. 17 w/o being bloodlusted took Piccolo on two hits, yet Kamiccolo said his fists were lacking weight w/bloodlusted 17.

17 is probably a bit more speed weighted and Piccolo probably more power weighted.
