If someone from the main timeline traveled 24 years to the future...

... would this someone arrive at future Cell's timeline?

Future Trunks informed us that the then mysterious machine came from 3 years further into his future. And it's also said that the machine arrived on Earth 4 years ago, meaning future Cell's timeline occurred 7 years after Trunks' timeline. Since Trunks came from 17 years into the future (firstly said as 20 but whatever), then if someone from the main timeline set a time machine for 24 years into the future would that locate them in Cell's timeline?

Or it doesn't work that way... maybe it'd travel to 7 years further into the future of future Trunks' timeline, and not Cell's, since the time machine and the timelines of Future Trunks's and the main one's might be already intertwined?

Probably not. We've only seen time machines used to go back and forward by characters already from a future point in history and it was only by actively interacting with the past that new timelines formed. If a character such as Bulma invented a time machine in the main timeline, it'd probably just bring her to a later event in their own timeline unless they caused a major change.

Trunks said 20 initially because there was a 20 year gap. He came from year 784 to 764. The gap diminished because he didn’t wait 3 years.

I think this time traveler would end up in the main timeline still. Once Cell arrived in 763 everything else was set to happen.

So when he said 17 afterwards and that Cell came from 3 years further, would that be 20 or 23?

780: Gohan dies
784: Trunks goes to the past
785: Trunks goes again to the past
788: Cell is born

Nevermind, I get it now. Makes sense. I think it's been cleared out to me as far as the timing in the timelines goes.
