The usual really, playing video games and reading books. Playing a lot of Overwatch (and getting pissed over it) and reading Lord of the Rings, which I'm almost done with. 800 pages in give or take.

In many ways, it doesn't. The book(s) are far superior, but I think the movies have a few better things. Reading the books I think the movies make a mockery of many of the characters, making them more quirky than they have to be. Especially Aragorn is slaughtered in translation.

Uh, generally not. There's one particular one, but i understand why they didn't go down that route. For the most part the book plots are covered in the movies, maybe dumbed down a little. The books does make note of wars coming to the elves of Mirkwood and Lothlorien and also to the dwarves and men of Erebor and Dale, I'm not sure if the movie mention this in passing. I don't remember if it is mentioned. Also, the War of the Ring actually ends with an exiled Saruman though his death is very similar to that of the movie.
