Is Freeza a good fighter?

Well, he said he never trained in his life, but he did seem to keep up with Goku in Namek fairly well at a power disadvantage.

Pretty good. Not as as good as Goku, Tenshinhan, Krillin, Piccolo, Roshi or even Namek Vegeta and Yamcha.

Goku has fought well with a power disadvantage (eg vs Vegeta), Krillin has against Goku, Piccolo and Tenshinhan are probably around Goku's combat skill level since they fought evenly with him in the Budokai, Yamcha put in decent showings against the saibaman and Kami. Vegeta can be an idiot but he managed to beat Zarbon (I'd say he's less skilled than Goku early in Z, considering Goku with x2KK managed to hit Vegeta and even on Namek Vegeta already had his habit of spamming weak ki attacks vs Recooome).

In terms of skill potential he could be very good. Obviously he improved in terms of skills in Super, but I don't know if he's yet caught up with Goku or Vegeta (since I don't watch Super and the writers of the Super anime can't write a good fight scene to save their life anyway)

Indeed he is. There's a reason why he was able to kept up with Goku despite the gap between them (120m/150m)

Good eyesight. No different to any character from early pre-23rd Budokai, when most couldn't sense ki.

That's what I always figured, but his fighting instincts seemed to be unequaled. Usually overpowered opponents fold quickly and Frizzy definetely offered a challenge unless it was all part of Goku's plan. :rape

But he pretty much lost to his own attack hitting him, so I think that says a lot.

He is naturally gifted in many ways

For someone with no training until after Z beyond what seems to be one spat with his papa, Freeza has some pretty exceptional skill to do so well against Goku despite a power disadvantage in both the warm up and climax of their fight, not to mention seeing through Goku's tactic of redirecting his homing attack at him whereas Piccolo fell for it from the start despite having inherited Daimao's memories and experience. The techniques he also has at his disposal are fairly complex for someone who's probably just experimented with the gifts he was given and left it at that such as his telekinetic abilities and skillful manipulation of his Ki with things such as his Energy Cutter and Nova Strike.

It was quite a bit more obvious when Goku did it against Freeza.
