Is it gutless to finish the game using legendary pokemon?

Think of it. Legendary Pokemon are supposed to be mirages, not ordinary
pokemon used in trainer battles. In the anime, no legendary pokemon
are ever used in official matches (gyms/league).
I'm thinking of playing ''honest'' and trying to beat the game without
legendary pokemon. Do you think you could do it? Could you beat the
Elite Four this way?

The only game I used a legendary to beat the Elite 4 was the first time I played Emerald, I used Rayquaza and wrecked their shit, it was fun. Every other play through of Emerald I've won without a legendary.

Definitely. Elite Fours in general are laughably easy to beat, as long as you properly train your Pokemon.

Try beating Lance's Dragonite in Yellow without Articuno.

I only ever did when I was young and too impatient to train a team. If you want to make the game more challenging, don't do it obviously, but I don't see why it matters.

Noland's Articuno, Brandon's Regi trio, Tobias' Darkrai and Latios...

He never actually caught the Articuno, he was just friendly with it.
