You know the kind-of series you can be intrigued by with older protagonists and characters, but with the same kind-of read it/watch it at night, under the bed-sheets if you have to (the same way you might your favourite series if you were younger). The mystery/suspense is that good. I don’t know many seinen series that have that acclaim in the mystery genre, especially if limiting it to more grounded series with no supernatural powers.

Dorohedoro fits the bill more, except for being non-supernatural.
I'd say 20th Century fits it too. I am a Hero too, but that has zombies.

If talking watching, I marathoned Space Brothers like that, but all the mystery and suspense is just about doing the tests to become an astronaut and finding out about people's professional motives.

which part

his name is hiro. he becomes the hero.

2nd guy is in a series about a 31 year old fired and industry-blacklisted automotive engineer trying to follow his younger brother in becoming an astronaut.

it's really good. it creates suspense from realistic life situations, like his job interview process, things going wrong during space missions. You might find it inspiring too. It's like a coming-of-age series, but for adults.

Pr sure Tenma is more like 35-38 and not 31. He was already a trained surgeon who'd long since graduated med school and been writing papers by the time Johan was 11, he had to be older than 25 by then
