Is Toei even trying to stay consistent?

Up until this point, Dragonball Super has been pretty consistent. It may have had some contradictory events, but even the source material had that, so it wasn't typically an issue. The new issue that arises is that Toriyama recently -very recently in fact, stated that he had no plans for Goku or Vegeta to surpass Beerus or Whiss, so what the fuck was Toei thinking?

Well as I said yesterday, don't be quick to make judgements. We don't know what the Gods may have up their sleeves.

I wonder if they power-up Goku without considering what Toriyama has stated beforehand.

I'd personally just say disregard Toriyama's statement.
