It makes no sense why Vegeeta let Cell become Perfect.

Or why he wanted Gero to make the androids. If he wanted a challenge, he could always just fight Gokuu.

Let's say they kill Gero before he makes the androids. Vegeeta can still train to become Super Saiyan and surpass Gokuu.

Let's say Vegeeta kills Semiperfect Cell. He can just wait for Gokuu to come out of the Room of Spirit and Time.

Of course it makes sense.

It's a new challenge. If someone tells him he won't be able to win, he wants to try it.

He was stronger than Goku both times he let the villains do as they please, it probably got to his head.

The Cell saga relies on everyone being stupid.

Trunks is literally the only one using a brain for most of the arc.

Vegeta is literally the same guy who goaded Freeza into transforming, even though he was already weaker than him in his first form.

Vegeeta wasn't much weaker than Freeza's first form (if at all). With Gohan and Kurilin's help, Vegeta would've likely been able to beat Freeza. He told Freeza to transform because he knew Freeza would do it sooner or later, and also because he didn't think the transformation would increase Freeza's power by much. Zarbon didn't get all that much stronger from his own transformation, so Vegeeta thinks Freeza's will be no different.

Why does he need a new challenge when he hasn't even beaten the old one yet?
Because Saiyans are horny to fight. Goku's always looking for someone stronger so why can't Vegeta do the same.

Gokuu alone should be enough to satisfy Vegeeta's fight boner.

Gokuu looks for someone stronger when he's already beaten everyone else.

Vegeeta hasn't beaten Gokuu as a Super Saiyan yet.

He watched Goku get beat by 19 and killed him with little to no effort. It was probably enough to satisfy his arrogance.

He knew the only reason Gokuu lost was because of his illness.

Would a sick Goku satisfy Vegeta in a fight? No, but the androids could, so could Cell.

He knew Gokuu would eventually recover with his medicine.

By the time Vegeeta even fought Cell, Gokuu was fully recovered and training in the Room of Spirit and Time.

Did Piccolo do anything stupid against 17/Cell?

He didn't kill Imperfect Cell when he had the chance in their first fight. He should've gone in without any weights on and fought at full power right away. If he wanted to ask Cell questions, he should've done so after beating him to a pulp and immobilizing him.

Letting the androids find him and co at Kame House instead of hiding at the Lookout was pretty stupid too
