Countless times in the manga, Kaido is said to be immune to all physical attacks. We're told that he has been captured and tortured many times, yet the weapons used for execution always break. Later on we find out that Oden is the sole person who has been able to wound Kaido, but I find this to be quite absurd. Kaido was an apprentice on the Rocks pirates and fought in the battle against Garp and Roger. Rocks were also said to fight among each other frequently, so he probably fought the likes of Xebec, Shiki, WB, BM, etc.. How did none of these legends manage to wound him? I get that Oden is not too far from Pirate King tier, but to think that none of these legends have wounded him is quite absurd.

It probably has to do with Oden wounding him with Enma. Either that, or Kaido only ever suffered internal damage against his rivals and just didn't show external rounds. It seems contrived either way and is probably just Oda trying to hype up the character who's going to be this arc's major threat.

It seems strange that any hype could even be created from talking about him. Being immune to typical swords is pretty common in the New World, as well as in the Grand Line amongst some DF users, so that and guillotines being incapable of harming a guy who should be strong enough to destroy islands if he so wished is pretty dumb. It'd be like if a Goku far stronger than his Boo Arc self could be harmed by bulle- ....oh wait. :troll

But it's odd that Roger could be killed by a regular weapon but Kaido cannot. I think you're right though. Oda wanted to hype up Kaido and make him sound badass, but didn't think of the blatant contradictions.

And I agree it must have been die to Enma. Oden was probably a master with it and it likely greatly amplified his destructive power.

I'll say in fairness of Roger, his body was slowly dying internally and he was willingly going to his death. Despite his strength, he was still human, whilst Kaido is clearly something more than that on a biological level, be it a giant, something related to the Oars giants, etc.

Semi related, but what is it about the Yonko that makes them impervious to death by conventional methods? The most recent example is Big Mom in the Udon prison. Queen had her wrapped in 100% seastone chains, injected with lethal amounts of beast tranquilizer - and she was obviously unconscious during this. He didn't even attempt to kill her, instead claiming the best option was to take her to Onigashima. We already learned in the WCI arc that she could be killed if her guard was let down. Why not here?
