I wonder if there is a limit on the size of the object that Kira can turn into a bomb. With no stated limit (that I can remember), he could've just made the whole house Josuke hid inside of a bomb for example. But of course there must be some practical size limit, else he could just send a charge into the Earth and kill everyone, but I wonder what that limit would be. Perhaps the equivalent of an adult human or slightly larger?

Also, the detonation of his bombs doesn't seem perfectly well-defined. For most of the series, Kira sends a charge into an object, and then upon detonation (whether by his own trigger or by contact), the person it touches explodes, and the object itself remains intact. However, in his final fight, he turns Stray Cat's air bubbles into bombs and those explode like traditional bomb projectiles (this is a can of worms in its own right but it's good enough to just handwave "condensed air bubble" as being a solid enough object). The easiest assumption is that he can randomly do both, but he for some reason chooses not to resort to the former method even when Josuke deduces that explosions induced by the latter would also hurt him if he's within the radius (clearly not the case with the former method, which is incredibly precise). The more likely explanation is just that Stray Cat's air bubbles(?) inexplicably has different rules attached as for what KQ can do to them. Maybe because they're air or because he can't control where they go or something.

Yeah he couldn't turn the house Josuke hid in into a bomb, nor Aya's entire salon so it seems there is a clear size limit. As for the air bubble thing, it seems there's two modes of Kira's standard KQ ability: either he turns the object into a trigger which causes any person who touches it to explode, or he make the object itself explode. With the air bubbles he usually does the latter.

It could also be that the complexity of the object is also a factor in bomb transmutation. The human body is naturally one natural product and a lot of his bombs on inanimate objects were small ones such as doorknobs, yet something like a house consists of many different materials to make up its structure, which may prove difficult to make into a bomb even if there wasn't a size limit. I would say the size limit does exist as there's indeed a cap to the power of KQ's explosions, given Sheer Heart Attack is meant to be a stronger explosive than the regular bombs and Jotaro was still able to barely survive an explosion from it close to him.

Didn't Jotaro have to overlap Star Platinum with his body to defend against the explosion though? And it was still a fatal wound, seeing as Josuke stated both he and Koichi would've been done for without his healing.

Yeah, though even that shows a cap to Sheer Heart Attack's potency when, as strong as it is, Star Platinum is still far from an invincible stand.

That's still the most damage Jotaro ever took in the series though until the end of Stone Ocean.

Yeah, not disputing that, but it shows there's still a clear limit to SHA if it couldn't oneshot Jotaro from its explosion.

CC, any thoughts on why Stray Cat's air bubbles detonate differently from most of Kira's other bombs that we've seen? Can he choose one or the other, or do the air bubbles just function differently for some reason?

Part of it would be due to Straw Cat willingly assisting him to some degree. We also see that Straw Cat can manipulate the shape and size of its air bubbles as well as negate Killer Queen's bombs through manipulating the air current, so the opposite could easily apply. On top of that, Stray Cat's bubbles are the product of Stand energy, explaining why Kira couldn't use a similar man-made alternative effectively when we've seen several Stands are able to fine tune their main ability far beyond physically possible means (eg. Magician's Red's precise control of heat to select areas of abilities).
