I think Kuririn said he was raised by monks. Same should apply to Tien and Chaozu. I particularly wonder if Chaozu’s parents were human vampire dolls like him.
Yajirobe is a ronin (samurai without a master), so I assume he had the typical samurai upbringing before running away out of cowardice.
Yamcha is a curious case. He’s clearly been trained in martial arts, but he’s a bandit first and foremost. Maybe he learned from street fighting and made up his own style? Either way, either his family was very poor or he was an orphan all along.
