I don't think Zoro is far enough behind for Luffy to be able to take the whole crew. Zoro still hasn't really been tested in a straight fight yet, apart from against Fujitora if you count that.

Most evidence would point to Zoro's best technique not being much stronger than Gear 3rd Luffy though if he thought Haoshoku Haki was enough of a deciding factor for him to not need to take command, and the gap in power and speed between 3rd and 4th is pretty huge based on how they both performed against Doflamingo. If it's enough to catch Doffy off-guard, it should be enough to blitz and oneshot the entire crew (minus Zoro) before Zoro gets a chance to help them.
