"In addition, the show's host Sanma Akashiya also asked Oda what would happen if a fan managed to guess the same ending that Oda is writing. Oda replied that he would change the ending."

No more ending guesses, guys!

A creator being willing to throw away what foreshadowing and build-up they've created just for subverting expectations? Never seen that before :troll

Just goes to show how integrity in sticking to your craft is dwindling these days. Also that GRRM >>> Oda.

One piece could easily end in 5 years if he didn't spend 3 years telling one arc.

Maybe he's left his story open enough to go multiple routes if he wants to.
Possibly, though that would require making the foreshadowing so vague and interpretive that it can barely even be called foreshadowing.
Also, it pretty much debunks the idea that Oda has planned everything like most fans tend to believe.

Also GRRM?

What is D&D? :wtf :wtf :wtf
George R. R. Martin is the creator of the A Song of Ice and Fire books, whilst D&D (David Benioff and D. B. Weiss) directed its tv adaption Game of Thrones.

The former has criticised the idea of changing a key plot point (such as an ending) at the last minute just because it can be predicted as it causes what foreshadowing you've built up to become meaningless, whilst D&D didn't understand this and ruined the show with plot twists that lacked the proper build up all because they found the alternatives too predictable.

This video basically sums up the differences in their approach:

It also did seem to say though that he's had the ending planned since his college days, so...
