Never really watched this series until now. I'm sure I had seen it on Toonami as a kid at some point, though. Started watching it, and I'm actually enjoying it.

Not a blatant Lupin ripoff like Cowboy Bebop.
The protagonist isn't annoying af like in Trigun.

There's an annoying little kid in the main cast, but at least he's better than Ed from Bebop. None of these shows handle female characters well, and all of Outlaw Star's female characters are obvious gooner bait, but I think the eyepatch chick is cool so far.

I'm only on episode 3, though.

Got to episode 4, and they killed off eyepatch waifu already? She was carrying the show for me, and not just because she was hot.

I don't wanna keep watching lol

I watched an episode a few years ago. It didn't quell the emptiness inside.

It definitely feels more like a generic Shounen than Cowboy Bebop and Trigun do. I don't mind Gene as a protagonist, but he's kinda bland. Jim's just a snot-nosed brat. Melfina's boring, and I can't take her seriously when she gets naked every episode to help pilot the ship (just an excuse for the series to show titties). Aisha's annoying. I liked Hilda (eyepatch girl), but she dies early on. Suzuka doesn't do much of anything (maybe she does more later on, but not worth sitting through half of the show for that). This is like a stupid harem anime. Practically every female character the protagonist comes across wants a piece of him; even if it's not overtly sexual or romantic, the innuendo is so strong that it may as well be. What is this shit, Tenchi Muyo?

The whole thing is a bit too childish for my tastes. It doesn't have the same noir vibe that Cowboy Bebop and Trigun do, which is the main reason I'm not really feeling this series. I'm not really into the whole space travel thing, either. That was the most boring aspect of Cowboy Bebop, and Trigun thankfully had none of it aside from that one flashback episode. Also, I don't care for Outlaw Star's opening theme song at all lol; Bebop and Trigun had better theme songs.

I'm halfway through Outlaw Star, and I think I've had enough now. Maybe I'll come back to it someday, but not anytime soon.
