Both from Movie 8/Broly. Who wins?
Really? I'd put Vegeta at the bottom of the group, considering he sat out most of the fight, entered late and much fresher than the others, and then basically gets one-shotted. Trunks was just simping for his dad as he's known to do from time to time.I don't remember that. Not really surprising though. Vegeta is probably the next strongest given how Trunks was so excited to see him join the fight, but I think the gaps between the rest of the Z Senshi were tight.
I don't really see Toei world writers lowballing Vegeta that much. I just think Broly toyed with him less because he'd already had his fill with the others providing entertainment for him, plus it would've been extra amusing for him that the prince finally balled up and had the courage to face him and then promptly got stomped in seconds. Vegeta apparently wasn't training between the end of the CG and the Bojack movie (which I'm assuming ties with M8 and M10 due to SSJ2 Gohan being in the latter movie and such), and he performed better than Trunks against Bojack if anything. Not that there's all that much logic in Toei power chains, but it does paint the status quo that Vegeta is usually at least somewhat above Trunks, particularly in M7 and the pre-RoSaT events of the Cell arc.Really? Goku>Trunks>Gohan>Vegeta would be my assumption. But I think I'm going to watch this tonight when I get home from work to give my memory a boost.

The movies Daizenshuu said that M8 takes place during the 10 day wait for the CG and Garlic Jr. logically can't exist pre-Raditz unless Kuririn has amnesia and Galu and Piccolo also forgot about Gohan's hidden power, yet is canon to the anime, so I think placing M8 just after Galu and Gohan exit the RoSaT is fine.Goku is dead by M9 and Cell doesn’t exist in M8, so I’m not sure if they tie into each other. But tbf M10 also has the same issue with Goku’s off screen death so

Every movie takes place in a time period after the last and M7 is clearly pre-RoSaT, so Dende being a Kami is just an excuse to move the battle to New NamekYeah that’s possible. Anime filler adds a lot of contradictions that we’re supposed to wave away as minor retcons (Goku’ visit to the Afterlife in DB, villains keeping their bodies in HFIL, powerscaling shit) so I can see Movie 8 being canon the same way Movie 1 or 5 is.
Guess we can also fit Movie 6 as a Androids Saga event and Dende is the outlier? Or is it a pre Cell Games event and Gohan just forgot to use SSJ because Toei hates him?
Rewatching it, yes, Goku is definitely excited.I’m not quite sure. Vegeta and Trunks are using Grade forms, but IIRC they also use them in the Anime Cell Games. Also, Goku looks excited when Broly tanks Vegeta’s kick. What do you make of that?
Also, I can't help but notice how out poorly written the main characters are. Vegeta walks right into this trap and is happy to go back to being the ruler of a new Saiyan planet despite never showing interest in doing so. Goku happily allows Trunks and Gohan to fight with him right from the word go, not even wanting a shot at Broly 1v1, and Gohan is weak sauce. For as popular as this movie was, the writing might be the worst out of the original 13 from Z.
M9 and M10 are both better. Paragus is also unironically the best part of the film and its a shame he's been totally overshadowed by his retard son. Also, I can't help but notice how out poorly written the main characters are.
