This is insane. I had no idea this was so popular at this stage. With all of the profit they earn they have no excuse to continue releasing such lackluster trash.

If anything, this will just convince Game Freak to be lazy rather than actually put in work to the games if a mediocre side game app is making far more money annually than the main series. If they can make so much money with less effort than before, I don't see GF stopping their current goals.

No doubt. It saddens me that the gaming industry works this way. The more money they make, the worse games become in general. It seems like there are fewer and fewer "revolutionary" games coming out these days that bring fresh new ideas.

That can apply to practically all mediums at this point, be it film, television, literature, etc. If the majority of consumers are willing to settle for either mediocrity or low effort, it just encourages the industry to focus on pumping out more of the same at half the effort, something very frustrating to any aspiring creator in any field when the poorly made product is more likely to make money than the one a lot of effort went into.
