Pokémon Sword and Shield

The livestream just ended. Two new Pokémon games were officially announced: Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and so begins the eighth generation.

What they showed looked pretty sweet. I'm digging the designs of all three starters which hasn't happened for me since Gen 5. The Fire and Water starters especially give me a Gen 3 Torchic and Mudkip vibe.

Don't really like the look of the new starters, but perhaps their Stage 2s will look cool. I like the look of the new region. Seems like the basis for it seems to be either Great Britain or just England, which is kewl.

Guess I'll be getting a Switch once it comes down in price.

I did get that kinda vibe from the region. The logos themselves reminded me of GoT lol.

I'd say I'm 70% sure I'll get this. I'll wait to see the legendaries.

The brief shot at a Big Ben style tower makes it apparent it's at least England based, though whether it'll also include the other UK countries is unclear. I hope so though, even if just as post-game areas.
The logos do make me question if the version mascots will still be separate or if things will be switched up by making them the same Pokemon in different forms. B2W2 and USUM were kind of that, to some extent.

The starters kinda look too similar to each other tbh. Not sure if that’s just me.

The version names are edgy but I’m looking forward to it.

I figured you or CCunt would beat me to it. I really like the aesthetic of this game. It certainly cannot be doubted that this is the best looking a Pokemon game has been. The starters are a bit meh for me, but I see potential with their evolutions. Regardless, the starter is not why I play Pokémon.

I usually go with grass or water. I think I like the water one the most but my heart could change.

The starters are all crap imo, but I felt similarly about Oshawott for instance, so who knows.

Similar to everyone above, I don't particularly care for any of the starters (I'll most likely be taking the fire one), but the graphics and aesthetic of the region look great to me. I'm actually really looking forward to it.

This game looks pretty sweet with what little we have, and I haven’t said that about a new Gen since B2/W2. Might just trade in my PS4 for a Switch since Spider-Man is the only game that tickled my fancy since I got it.

Been a while since I liked the appearance of all 3 starters, as of now I’m likin the grass monkey the most.

I don't know how much you love Pokemon, but I wouldn't recommend a switch if you just plan to get that. It's a lot of money for one game that might not even be good.

I really hope they ditch the Let's Go style of catching Pokemon. That's fine for a spinoff game, but not the main series. I hope they don't continue to water down the experience.
