Pure Boo + South Kaioshin = Buff Boo > Super Boo

That statement is doubtful considering that Goku never told Boo about that and even if he did, the only reason why he told that was to give Boo an excitement to look forward for so he wouldn't destroy the Earth until the kids master the fusion.

He can at least hide his chances of winning, as him saying "I can't beat Buu" seems to be more about the stamina gap between him and Buu than the power gap itself, while Gotenks was a sure win. Piccolo also confirmed it.

Piccolo indeed knew that Goku can beat Boo no problem and as we saw, Goku was trying to give everyone a hope where they wouldn't need him against Boo. Why would Goku lied to Piccolo about his chances against Boo? Doesn't make sense other than he wants the kids to be the new hero therefore he wants Piccolo to trust the kids as well.

The way Kaioshin talked about Boo "somehow" being able to absorb South Kaioshin gives the impression that Boo had trouble doing it.

For all we know, they could've been close in power. He killed the West and North Kaioshin's immediately, so South Kaioshin had to do something far different than those 2 to even get absorbed.

What about Gohan being implied to be stronger than all Kaioshins as a SSjin?

That might've been the initial plan, but I believe things changed throughout the story.

Kaioshin pretty much said Boo was powerful enough to kill all of the Kaioshin when explaining Boo's origin.

Then later, we're given more detail as to how things went down. As for Gohan, we see how quickly he went down trying to fight Fat man, who's inferior to Kid Boo. If South Kaioshin was already inferior to Super Saiyan Gohan, then I find it hard to believe South Kaioshin would've fared any better than the North and West Kaioshin's against a much more powerful Boo.

Kaioshin seemed to believe Gohan had the potential to take Boo down with the Z-Sword, only for him to go from that to believing the secret was becoming a Super Saiyan after training with the Z-Sword. This guy is entirely clueless.

That's how it works out numerically for all of boos absorptions since db super portrayed ultimate gohans original power to be over 100x stronger than Gotenks since Gohan was equal to Goku in the same form and he still didn't reach his original strength as an ssj2. Despite that, bootenks was stronger than Gohan.

Boohan forced Vegito to use some effort after he became angry and started releasing buff boos power. Buff boo is likely stronger than boohan let alone super boo whom he's stated to be stronger than anyway.
