This is exactly why I made this thread. Raditz omega tanks Piccolo's blast, he's gotta be at least double the blast. It might be the most epic tank in the entire series, we gotta put some respect on it.

And no, Raditz doesn't have access to unsurfaced ki somehow, it doesn't work like that.

No, he definitely didn't tank it. He had his full guard up, got scared to death and his blast might have dampened the blow as well.

Then we're at a crossroads. It's hard to reconcile with the official numbers, but you'd have to explain why Raditz's scouter didn't pick up further increases from Goku/Piccolo.

Oh, I'm totally saying throw out the official numbers. They don't work for this saga.

There are no further increases from them. We can't insert a new storyline in. AT messed up the numbers, but let's keep the power chain.

Is this even necessary? We already got the numbers for this, low end and top end. Making stuff up to fill the middle and say these numbers aren’t enough, even though they’re the foundation for PL lists is nutty stuff.

It has to be unamped. Raditz has a scouter and doesn’t pick up on any ki amp.

Piccolo’s blast must be the same as his level, that’s the only way to make sense of it. Raditz freaks out when he sees Ki amp.

Considering not many people have explored this saga I’d say 100%. AT made some errors here that we can correct.

Also there’s several levels that haven’t even been discussed.

Initial Raditz tanking Piccolo’s blast is a good topic.

Every fighter can control their effort and what level they can exert. You can do that right now yourself.

Raditz is stated to have multiple powers, there's no reason for us to pretend they don't exist.

Nappa and Vegeta also had multiple levels despite their inability to fool a scouter, they can fool a ki senser. This is Year 1 stuff my guy, c'mon now.

I'm with GSM on this for once, I really don't care about these levels. This level of detail is useful for e.g. Freeza/Cell because it's part of the process of figuring out their top powers. I know Raditz is 1250~1350, so I don't care how much he tried at various points in this fight. I don't care that he tanked Piccolo's blast because of course he can do that, look at his number.

That was a suppressed Raditz though. Most people don't realize that. Suppressed Raditz is already too much for Goku/Piccolo, he then does significant power-ups on top of that.

He can power up, like Vegeta does on Earth, but if he could suppress his ki to e.g. 50% then it would not be significant to him and Nappa/Vegeta that the Earthlings can vary their powers wildly. Raditz when he isn't trying might be showing like 1000 (probably more tbh, going with Vegeta as a benchmark) and then he can power up to his 1200+ level.

No one is forced to fight at 100% of their ability from the get go. What impresses them is someone's ability to fool a scouter. The Z-fighters would have been better off with some scouters against the Saiyans compared to their ki sensing abiities.

They got fooled several times. Nappa at full power is a match for 8,000 Goku, yet 1,500 Krillen is able to evade him and land some shots on him. Ergo, Nappa was in no way fighting at full power the entire time.

He has to be far less than 1,000. Remember, Raditz initial attack against Goku and Piccolo is far superior to what he had shown previously.

I agree with the varying levels throughout the fights but Raditz is not actively suppressing his ki. This is usually not an important distinction to make, but in these early fights where we know the Saiyans aren't capable of freely controlling their ki yet, it matters. Captain Ginyu is the first of Freeza's fighters that we see who is able to freely alter his battle power.
