But yeah I saw some others include them so I just did so myself.

Interesting to see someone with Bojack as #1. Underrated film in my opinion. Dat Gohan Gi.

To be honest it's mostly because of the comedy. Especially in the dub. One of my favourite movie lines is after Bulma and Chi Chi cheer Gohan and Trunks on, making both of them embarrassed, and then Oolong just says "Krillin, don't get yourself killed", which Krillin replies with "Oh I'll survive, then it's bacon time". The Japanese version doesn't even give Krillin a line there, which in some ways is funnier since the absolute silence mixed with Krillin's face is perfect.

It doesn't have the best action or villain, but it has the best damn character moments imo.

The Bardock special removes all the characters I know I love and replaces it with 50 minutes of strangers. Movie-only characters in general aren't all that great. Even Bojack Unbound, my favourite movie, has generic as fuck villains. Bardock is slightly better than the average movie character, but not by much. I wouldn't even say that the characters we do know would be good by themselves in a 50 minute movie, they're not all that interesting, you just grow to like them after spending so much time watching them.

Plus that combined with the fact I've never had any interest in the Saiyan's backstory. I'm not a big fan of kind of stories where everyone is a barbaric warrior. I can't relate to any of them, or emphasise with any of them. And I don't particularly care if any of them die because they're all evil.

Toriyama himself even said it's not the kind of story he'd write, so it's a pretty big outlier in terms of Dragon Ball. Just because you like Dragon Ball doesn't mean you'd like the special, and just because you like the special doesn't mean you'd like regular Dragon Ball. It's almost like it belongs to a different show.

I wishi they'd do something with Grandpa Gohan (like a TV-Special or something). :'( :'( :'(
